The current baseball season is 162 games long, not including the post-season. The season begins in April and ends in October. However, a job with the MLB is a year-round commitment. MLB.co m provides video streaming and audio broadcasts of baseball games to subscribers, sells official baseball merchandise, allows users to purchase game tickets, and runs fantasy baseball leagues. Internships Offered by Major League Baseball A career in baseball is a unique and challenging opportunity in an exciting and sought-after industry. Both MLB and MLB.com offer a wide range of internships in the United States and abroad. These include Labor Relations, Special Events, Club Advertising and Marketing, E-commerce, Multimedia, Sponsorship, Legal, Community Affairs, Information Technology, Human Resources, Analytics, Finance, Content, Ticketing, Design, Public Relations, Ticket bro, Fan Experience, Turf Management, and Baseball Operations. MLB.com and the Office of the Commissioner both offer formal paid summer internshipprogramsbeginning in May and concluding by early to mid-August. A number of spring and fall internships are available on a limited basis. Internships in the Unite d States are based in New York City or Secaucus, New Jersey, but internships with specific teams are located in the teams hometown. All internship positions are paid, but no housing or housing assistance is provided. Qualifications Students must have completed at least two years at an accredited four-year college or university or have completed one year of post-graduate studies to qualify for an MLB internship. Candidates must have an interest in working within a specific department in baseball and have exceptional academic standing. Although prior experience in the targeted internship area is not required, it is preferred. Candidates must also exhibit strong writing and communications skills. The cover letter should detail why the applicant wants to pursue an internship in a specific department within MLB and should mention at least three potential departments. It should also explain why the internship is appealing to the candidate and how it will advance their career in the long term. The deadline for summer internships is typically early February.
